Avatar Review
Avatar is a clear example of imperialism, which has occurred throughout history immensely. There are many times in history were natives of a country have been imperialized by a foreign country for their lands resources, this occurred in Avatar as well. For example when the Native Americans were imperialized by European countries. Also when Africa was imperialized by Britian. They were taken over for their lands' resources, without recognition of how the natives felt. Avatar's imperialism in the movie and the world's history of imperialism have many similarities.

Avatar is about an paraplegic Marine Jake Sully who decides to take on a mission on the distant world of Pandora. There he learns of greedy corporate figurehead Parker Selfridge's intentions of driving off the native humanoid "Na'vi" in order to mine for the precious material scattered throughout their rich woodland. In exchange for the spinal surgery that will fix his legs, Jake gathers Intel for the cooperating military unit spearheaded by gung-ho Colonel Quaritch, while simultaneously attempting to infiltrate the Na'vi people with the use of an "avatar" identity. Jake begins to bond with the native tribe and quickly falls in love with the beautiful Na'vi Neytiri, the restless Colonel moves forward with his ruthless extermination tactics, forcing the soldier to take a stand and fight back in an epic battle for the fate of Pandora.

Native Americans have been imperialized by European. Like Avatar, European countries imperialized north America because its newly founded resources, which they were in need of. They took over through force with their advance technologies and diseases, which decimated the native population. Without even thinking of native population they were driven to gain the newly found rich resources.
